Any coach who has or will be partnering with James should know that no matter how much real power the coach has in the tactical system or the lineup adjustment, they will actually have a feeling of being controlled by James.
Dealing with this relationship requires some more unique methods. So far, Vogel, the new head coach of the Lakers, can at least say that he has said nothing in the media.
In an interview recently, Vogel said that he only said that he planned to partner with James, instead of telling the outside world how to do it:
"There has been some progress now. I hope that we can have a better season performance after our lineup is completed. We will sit down and really understand the details of the tactical plan, and then I will be all over the season," Vogel said. "I have always regarded my best player as a partner, but for James, he is more like a major shareholder than a partner. His career achievements and ideas are just as great. We will work together and I will pay attention to it. His opinions, we will all work together."
This is not the first time that Vogel talked about James publicly. Some of them have reported that James will be the starting point guard of the team some time ago, but Vogel, as the head coach, publicly refuted this statement.
At least from Vogel's remarks, we can see that there is still a very good relationship between him and James, and considering that Tyron Lu and Stuart can be better as the head coach of James. Maintaining a good relationship with James is also an important reason for their success.
So Vogel can continue to maintain a good relationship with James, which is definitely the best situation for the Lakers.
